‘Palm Beach Entertaining’ Book Sales Raise Funds for Children’s Home Society of Florida

The Back Porch, a new boutique store in North Palm Beach, Fla., recently sponsored a “Meet the Author” gathering to benefit the local division of the Children’s Home Society of Florida.

The three-hour book signing, book sale and presentation of Palm Beach Entertaining featured recipes, raffle prizes, wine and socializing in the quaint gift store near the North Palm Beach Country Club.

Guests had the opportunity to meet the book’s author, Annie Falk, and co-authors Katherine Lande and Daphne Nikolopoulos. Proceeds will help the more than 18,000 families children in Palm Beach County annually through such services as adoption, group homes, counseling and more.

Speaker Series Underway at John D. MacArthur Beach State Park

“Dolphins: An Intimate Glimpse at an Aquatic Society,” was the title of an intriguing presentation by Denise Herzing, founder / research director of the Wild Dolphin Project, recently at John D. MacArthur Beach State Park in North Palm Beach, next to Lost Tree Village.

The presentation explored the Project’s long-term study of the Atlantic spotted dolphin and took place in the Pew Family Natural Science Education Classroom. The Speaker Series continues March 2, when Ed Petuch discusses “Geology of the South Florida Coastline.” Because space is limited, guests are asked to call ahead for reservations at 561-776-7449, Ext. 104.

The Speaker Series is a program of the Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park, and proceeds from the $5 admission go to support the programs at the Pew Family Natural Science Education Classroom. All residents with homes in Palm Beach County are invited to attend. Time is 11 a.m. to noon.

North Palm Beach, Fla., Site of Cancer Fundraiser

Friends 4 Cancer Research will be the beneficiary of a fabulous food event at Frenchman’s Harbor on Jan. 31, 2013.

The event includes wine, hors d’oeuvres, a relaxed atmosphere, an auction and an amazing location on Intracoastal Waterway property in North Palm Beach. It is the second in a series of events designed to raise money for the cause.

Friends 4 Cancer Research is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money for cancer research and disease-prevention programs. It is a grassroots group based in West Palm Beach that reaches out to all patients in Palm Beach County.
